X-Chem is seeking a candidate for the position of Associate Scientist.  The Associate Scientist will work within a project team structure, design and execute synthetic routes and troubleshoot when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform synthesis of target molecules as part of a project team
  • Execute precedented and related chemistry with some guidance
  • Execute novel and more challenging chemistry with occasional guidance
  • Participate in defining design and reaction and routes with Project Chemistry Lead
  • Increase synthetic productivity and analysis of conventional chemistry reactions (increase of complexity)
  • Complete ELN and project documents on time with no technical or scientific errors
  • Participate in troubleshooting and optimize reaction sequences with some guidance by PCL or Associate Director
  • Participate in project team meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSc in Organic, Bioorganic or Medicinal Chemistry
  • 0 – 3 years of experience in synthesis and knowledge that is directly relevant to pharma research within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Good knowledge of modern synthetic organic chemistry
  • Demonstrated laboratory proficiency
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience with a range of standard laboratory instrumentation, purification techniques (e.g. NMR, MS, automated chromatography), and data analysis
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good research track record
  • Team-focused, goal-oriented and quality-conscientious
  • Good oral and written communication skills
