X-Chem is seeking a candidate for the position of Associate Scientist. The Associate Scientist will work within a project team structure, design and execute synthetic routes and troubleshoot when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform synthesis of target molecules as part of a project team
- Execute precedented and related chemistry with some guidance
- Execute novel and more challenging chemistry with occasional guidance
- Participate in defining design and reaction and routes with Project Chemistry Lead
- Increase synthetic productivity and analysis of conventional chemistry reactions (increase of complexity)
- Complete ELN and project documents on time with no technical or scientific errors
- Participate in troubleshooting and optimize reaction sequences with some guidance by PCL or Associate Director
- Participate in project team meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- MSc in Organic, Bioorganic or Medicinal Chemistry
- 0 – 3 years of experience in synthesis and knowledge that is directly relevant to pharma research within the pharmaceutical industry
- Good knowledge of modern synthetic organic chemistry
- Demonstrated laboratory proficiency
- Good knowledge and hands-on experience with a range of standard laboratory instrumentation, purification techniques (e.g. NMR, MS, automated chromatography), and data analysis
- Good analytical skills
- Good research track record
- Team-focused, goal-oriented and quality-conscientious
- Good oral and written communication skills
